Flight Searching
- How many airlines can I search via Yahoo! Travel Search?
We're not exactly sure but we think it's more than 500 now. We aim to include them all.
- Can I search for flexible-date flights?
Not yet but this is something we're working on.
- Can I search for multi-leg or "open-jaw" flights?
- Can I search for a one-way ticket?
Yes. Just select the "One-way" radio button on the flight search form.
- Can I search for group bookings?
For flight searches, FareChase supports searches for up to 9 travellers. For hotel searches, FareChase also supports searches for up to 9 hotel rooms. If this does not meet your requirments, we suggest that you contact your preferred travel provider by phone since, in general, most travel providers require a phone reservation for large group bookings.
- Can I search for unaccompanied children?
Yahoo! Travel Search does not allow searches for air tickets for unaccompanied minors (children traveling on their own). Most airlines require that reservations for unaccompanied minors be completed via the phone. Please contact your preferred travel provider by phone to book a ticket for an unaccompanied minor.
- How do prices for infants work?
An infant is defined as under 2 years old. A search which includes infants assumes that the infant will be on the lap of the accompanying adult(s). This means that there will not be a seat reserved for the infant. Generally, airlines do not charge for infants on lap. The average price displayed in the search results will apply to the adults and children in the search and will not apply to the infant. However, when you are transferred by FareChase to the travel provider to finalize your booking, the information for the infant is also transferred and will be reflected on your confirmation page of the travel provider. If you would like to reserve a seat for your infant we suggest that you contact the airline directly.
A children's ticket is generally for those aged 2-11 although this does vary by airline. If in doubt, we suggest that you contact the airline directly for the fare rules for children's tickets.
- What are recent searches?
Yahoo! Travel Search remembers the five most recent searches you've performed on FareChase and stores them for your convenience. IYour recent searches are stored on a cookie on your computer.
- I'm not sure of the airport code for the city I would like to search
Just type the first few letters of the name of the city you want to fly to and we'll present you with a short list of possible locations. Select the correct city or keep typing if you need to shorten the list of possible locations.
- I saw a fare for a flight an hour ago, and when I came back and searched for the same flight, the fare was gone. What am I doing wrong?
Yahoo! Travel Search conducts searches in real-time. Because airfares and flight availability change throughout the day, it is possible that the fare you originally found is no longer available.
- Why were no flights found for my search request?
There may be no flights that match all your search criteria. Click the "Modify Your Search" link on the upper left of your screen to modify your search criteria. Try selecting different dates or nearby airports. Airlines sometimes release inventory closer to the day of departure so it might be worth trying your search again at another time.
Hotel Searching

Yahoo! relies on several third party aggregators of hotel information including Star Ratings. They in turn are normally assigned by the hotel association or automobile club (eg. AA) for the country in question.
- How does Yahoo! Travel Search determine a hotel's popularity?
We calculate popularity of a hotel based on what users are looking at, rating, and talking about across the entire Web so our popularity rankings are as unbiased, accurate and up-to-date as possible.

Search Results
- I'm seeing too many search results. How can I cut it down to just what I want?

- Do the fares and rates listed on Yahoo! Travel Search include taxes and fees?
Yahoo! Travel Search is designed to display the same price providers show you when you search directly on their site. In general, but not always, the airfares displayed on Yahoo! Travel Search exclude fuel & insurance surcharges, airport, network & security taxes and booking fees. Where a website includes these we endeavour to flag this in the results display so you know what you are comparing.
In general, the hotel rates displayed on Yahoo! Travel Search do not include taxes and fees. Please select a particular fare or rate to view the travel provider's website for information about applicable taxes and fees. Yahoo! Travel Search is not responsible for, nor can it warrant the accuracy of, the travel provider's website displays.
- Can I display all the fares and rates in something other than SGD?
Yes. You may choose a currency from the drop down list in the "Refine Your Search" module. Currency rates are updated throughout the day and are supplied by Yahoo! Finance.
- How do I use the sliders and filters on the left hand side of my screen?
The sliders, checkboxes under "Refine Results" are used for filtering the results displayed on your screen. Initially, all checkboxes are selected and all results are displayed on the right-hand side. By unchecking a criteria you will remove all results that meet that criteria. For example, if you would like to show only direct flights, you can uncheck "1-stop" and "2+ stops" and the results on the right-hand side will update automatically.

- Can I make a reservation with Yahoo! Travel Search over the phone?

- How do I get a confirmation for my ticket purchase or reservation?
The customer service department of your travel provider should contact you with an email confirmation or by any alternate method you selected while making your purchase. If you have not received a confirmation, please contact the customer service department of your travel provider.
- What are the terms and conditions of my ticket?
The terms and conditions of your ticket or hotel booking should be described on your travel provider's web site. Once you have selected an itinerary or hotel room from the FareChase search results, you will be taken to the provider's web site, where you can view the available terms and conditions of your itinerary before purchasing your ticket. If you have any questions, please contact your travel provider.
- Can I put a fare I have found on hold in order to purchase it later?
Each travel provider may have different rules for putting a fare on hold prior to purchase. If you wish to place a ticket on hold, view the terms and conditions stated on the website of the travel provider you have selected, or contact that travel provider's customer service department.
- Will Yahoo! Travel Search notify me if any changes are made to my ticket (e.g. the airline cancels my flight).
